Experience the Big Island of Hawai'i
Embarking on a Journey of Discovery

Step into a realm where nature and heritage converge on Hawaii’s Big Island. Our intimate, small-group tours explore an array of iconic landmarks that have mesmerized visitors for generations. The island’s dramatic volcanic fields, cascading waterfalls, and verdant rainforests offer a naturally curated itinerary for anyone eager to connect with the raw beauty of the Hawaiian landscape.
Our small-group, van tours offer an immersive visual and cultural narrative that goes beyond typical sightseeing. Sure, we'll see what everyone wants when they visit the Big Island, but we'll also open up some hidden masterpieces that the large bus tours simply can't access. And we work hand-in-glove with cruiserliners to make the most of your day, maximizing port of call time and saving pennywise cruisers' money (more on that later).
Discover 4 Treasures of the Big Island
Volcano National Park
Marvel at the dynamic forces of nature's creative power, with glowing lava fields and steaming craters that display the island’s volcanic heritage. Enjoy interpretive trails, meander through a lit lava tub, and learn all about these geological marvels at one of two visitor centers. Big Hawai'i Tours prioritizes park visits over all other sites when the mighty Kilauea -- the most active volcano on Earth -- is erupting. On dormant days, we may call an audible and visit more private volcanic wonders (no large buses and throngs of visitors) and equally majestic sites closer to the harbor to maximize your Hilo port of call ... the nimble benefits of small-group touring!
'Akaka Falls State Park
Step into a lush rainforest where a magnificent waterfall cascades over vibrant green surroundings. Ideal for photography lovers and nature enthusiasts, with the half-mile walk through the lush garden loop, which frankly is as mesmerizing as the 442-foot waterfall. The quarter-mile loop paved trail through incredible tropical plant-life is almost as grand as the two waterfalls on this short walk, so this is a must stop to soak in the Hawai'i experience.
Rainbow Falls and Boiling Pots
Experience one of the world's most stunning water flows, the Wailuku River, which cascades from the mighty Mauna Kea, which towers above the entire island at an imposing 14,000 feet. The Wailuki cascades over hardened lava rocks and through lush jungle vegetation, dropping precitipoulsly over a number of cliffs, including those that create the iconic Rainbow Falls and the Boiling Pots calderon.
Black Sand Beaches
Unwind on expansive black sand beaches, perfect for sunbathing, snorkeling, and sea-life spotting. Clear waters and sunlit shores make it an essential stop for leisure and relaxation, and we will walk a short distance to a cove that's home to nearly two dozen sea turtles.
Our van tours work in concert with cruise liners docking at Hilo Harbor to save you money, while packing the most site seeing of any tour. We pick up passengers at your ship after you've had breakfast on board, return you to take advantage of your ship's free lunch, then resume our tour of the Big Island until it's time to embark for your liner's dinner and next port of call.
